Today, September 15th 2007, marks the tenth anniversary of the domain name Google.com.

On September 15th 1997, after some time hosting their PhD research project at google.stanford.edu, Larry Page and Sergey Brin registered the domain name google.com.

Almost one year later, Google Inc. was created.

From a very small company based on a garage in Menlo Park, California, in 10 years Google turned into one of the best know brands around the internet (if not the most well known) with a reported revenue for 2006 in excess of 10.604 billion dollars and near 14.000 employees.

What more can be said…

  1. Say what you want to about Google, they do more good for you than harm.
They made a better search engine, gave sites a yardstick to measure themselves by, and are cleaning house on the people manipulating serps through link schemes and paid links. Google is the source, and if you care about your site, you know we’re lucky to have them.

  2. Hi mlankton,

Thanks for your comment. I completely agree with you. The arrival of Google and it’s climb through the Search Engine world started a new era that can only be good for web sites (at least serious ones).
I would never dream of writing anything bad about Google…
