Canon has launched the Vista upgrade to the PIXMA iP90: the new Canon PIXMA iP90v.
Although not much changed since the previous model, if you are planning to buy a portable printer, this might be a good choice.

Canon PIXMA iP90v: HIGHLIGHTS
- Good text quality (better than the previous one).
- Print speed is high (although slightly lower than the iP90): Approximately 6ppm for black text and 1.4ppm for color graphics.
- Compact design (can be easily carried on a laptop case).
- PictBridge enabled.
- Wireless printing through IrDA.
- Ink-Saving mode.
Compared to the PIXMA iP90, the new model doesn’t add much besides Windows Vista support. There is a slight increase in print quality but a decrease in print speed when printing color photos (just under 2 minutes for a 4×6in (10×15cm) photo). For photo printing, the iP90v produces finely detailed and sharp photos thanks to precision ink nozzles that create 2-picoliter ink droplets.
Similarly to the iP90, the iP90v comes with a USB port and PictBridge enabled to allow for printing directly from cameras. Also, wireless (to print directly from a camera phone, as an example) is guaranteed by a IrDA (infra-red) port.
Overall, the Canon PIXMA iP90v is a good printer if you need portability but think if you really need a portable printer to carry with you because at approximately $250 it’s not a cheap toy, and if you plan to buy some of the add-ons like the Li-Ion battery for full portability then the price can significantly increase.
